Overview

USAID’s Momentum Country and Global Leadership (MCGL) award is a USAID funded global award, that works in tandem with country governments and local nongovernmental organizations to provide targeted technical and capacity development assistance and contribute to the global technical leadership and policy dialogue on improving measurable outcomes for maternal, reproductive, newborn and child health, and voluntary family planning. MCGL is seeking a Deputy Project Director to support technical depth, vision, guidance, and expertise in quality case management for an upcoming USAID program in East Jerusalem, the East Jerusalem Hospital Network (EJHN).  EJHN comprises six non-profit, charitable hospitals that have a long history of providing services to patients from East Jerusalem, the West Bank and Gaza hospitals in East Jerusalem. The EJHN program will support hospitals within the network to diversify income streams and improve quality of services for patients from the West Bank, Gaza and East Jerusalem.

The Communications and Knowledge Management (CKM) Officer will be responsible for developing well written information and knowledge products and other communication pieces with high quality photos, videos, infographics or stories for MCGL/Jhpiego East Jerusalem. The Officer will work closely with colleagues to identify knowledge management needs as well as harness and package knowledge for dissemination through different means, and varied audience through sound program knowledge and experience. The CKM Officer will work closely with the Program Officer and report to the Project Director.

Responsibilities

  • Develop high-level communications products to showcase the work of MCGL to key audience in an on-going basis, including but not limited to the donor, relevant ministries, policy makers, partner organizations, the media, and general public
  • Identify creative and effective ways to generate and share knowledge with a view to leverage good practices to improve programs
  • Work closely with MCGL staff to develop information products and learning materials which include diverse knowledge; evidence- based articles, resource guide
  • Communicate the mission, projects, events, resources and success stories as well as plan and coordinate promotional events and develop strategic communications, to various targeted audiences
  • Develop stories/narratives reports about the work and best practices of MCGL for a variety of media
  • Develop information, education, and communications (IEC) materials, job aids, publications and presentations as needed and maintain KM systems
  • Provide editorial services for documents and presentations, including formatting, style and accuracy of a text, grammar and punctuation and copy editing
  • Develop a repository of relevant MCGL documents and materials on Jhpiego’s intranet
  • Work closely with the MCGL management and technical leads to coordinate the implementation of a comprehensive internal and external relations, communications and publications strategy
  • Develop and update MCGL communication plan and execute same
  • Develop active media engagement plan for our local office with approved goals and objectives.
  • Build relationships with media personnel and develop opportunities to engage for higher recognition.
  • Identify key speaking opportunities for the PD to build the organization’s profile.
  • Work with the project’s team to identify important events to capture and develop media opportunities to highlight and extend visibility.
  • Identify opportunities to highlight the organization’s presence at events.
  • Conduct media training for office employees and enhance ability to address media opportunities or social moments of presentation.
  • Track media cycles and manage media requests and opportunities.
  • Conduct market research and analyze trends to identify new opportunities and improve campaign performance
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including creative, content, and web development, to produce engaging content and optimize user experience
  • Stay current with emerging digital marketing trends and technologies

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, Knowledge Management, Public Health, International Development or related field.
  • 5-6 years’ relevant experience with 3-4 years’ working in knowledge management and communications for public health, especially USAID development projects
  • Demonstrate competencies in communicating to a wide range of stakeholders and audiences as well as excellent report writing, facilitation and inter-personal skills.
  • Demonstrate good judgment, possesses sensitivity and understanding of how messaging impacts diverse audiences
  • Excellent computer skills in a full range of software, including: MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), Adobe Creative Suite, Infographic Programs and/or other graphics programs.
  • Proven ability to organize, summarize, and rewrite technical information for non-expert audiences.
  • Experience facilitating workshops and trainings in communication skills.
  • Proven organizational and management skills, ability to work independently and in teams in a multi-cultural context.
  • Ability to develop compelling infographics to support data and presentations
  • The ideal candidate should be an excellent writer with strong command of both spoken and written English and Arabic
  • Attention to detail, consistency and accuracy
  • Proven ability to meet tight deadlines and juggle numerous projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
